Dubai Summer Surprises, the city’s annual shopping and entertainment festival, took place from 29 June to 3 September. Residents and visitors were able to enjoy a flurry of incredible bargains, spend-and-win promotions and daily deals. Shows on the go
Dubai Summer Surprises made events as memorable as the shopping sprees, often combining the two into one fantastic experience. Shoppers even picked up tricks from roaming acrobats and entertainers who swept across malls with their lively antics and acts. Of course, summer’s number one friend Modesh made a grand entrance this year with the returning Modesh World, bigger and better than ever before. Modesh and Dana even pitched up at Inglot in Dubai Hills Mall where shoppers were treated to a Modesh-inspired makeover.
Top stars took centre stage at unmissable live concerts
Dubai Summer Surprises kicked off with not one but two incredible live shows. The opening concert of the summer featured Emirati superstar Hussain Al Jassmi and legendary singer Kadim Al Sahir. The next night Saudi singing sensation Mohamed Abdo took to a Dubai stage for the first time in five years with a special Eid concert at the Coca-Cola Arena. Plus, the Beat The Heat concert series was back by popular demand and this year’s line-up saw amazing regional artists headline at The Agenda. Music fans were spoilt for choice with talented musicians like WEGZ, Cairokee, Balti, Big Sam, Autostrad, Sharmoofers and DJ Aseel on the bill. Other incredible artists to grace Dubai Summer Surprises included Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar, rapper Jah Khalib performing his first set in the city, Afrobeats from the Nigerian-American singer Davido and even classical music from pianists Julia Kociuban and Sanaz Sotoudeh at Dubai Opera.
Family fun without breaking the bank
Many of the city’s top hotels and attractions joined in the summer fun with incredible deals throughout the festivities. Wallet-friendly offers were snapped up by families as some of the finest must-visit destinations offered Dubai’s residents and visitors plenty of Kids Go For Free deals to pick from.
